VERWEILEN (A performative space of pause and care)

Verweilen was an intimate, performative gathering that invited five participants into a slow, sensory exploration of shared presence. Rooted in my own need for protected spaces, this project transformed a meal into a vessel for care.

Accompanied by an auditory vocal-vessel that welcomed those arriving and granted permission for silence and pauses, materiality moved into the center. Through its weight and tactility, the tableware offered the nervous system an anchor. The food, prepared from regional ingredients, was a form of «care» for both environment and body—selected to nourish without overwhelming the senses.

Emerging from my experience as a queer, non-binary artist with chronic migraines and a neurodivergent sensitivity, Verweilen was an act of self-designed solidarity. A temporary space where the world’s noise could dissipate—held together by the haptic care of the material.
